Palos Community Hospital present and former employee comments.
PCH. I must be honest, when I first went to this website and wrote a couple of
sentences. For a brief moment all the anxiety came flooding back to me. Like I
had in my last year at PCH if I say that it was difficult that would be an
understatement. My last year was extremely stressful, I was physically ill and in
fear of losing my job everyday. It was after exhausting every possible way to
resolve being discriminated against. Even going to EEOC only to find out I would
surely lose my job once PCH found out. It was then I decided to seek employment
elsewhere. I have had time to process this and would like to move forward and
participate in this complaint.Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you in this
most serious matter.
comments = I have been treated in the same manner. My complaints are:
age discrimination, wrongful disiplinary action, defamation, infliction of emotional
discrimination, retaliation, creating an environment that is hostitle and
comments = I have worked at Palos Community Hospital for over 14 years. I
recently resigned due to a hostile work environment and what I believe was
discriminatory behavior. I'm also considering legal action. Feel free to contact
me. Thank you.
comments = i retired sooner than i wished to the hostile and degrading
treatment of nurses which ultimately affects nursing care. THE PATIENTS
outcome is the bottom line not $$$$. every department affects patient care.
when is pch going to wake up? I waited so long for someone to get the ----- to
do this. Maybe it will wake up nursing!
continued to be ill. When the doctor released me they told me they had no work.
They told me they had one month to find me a suitable position. They said I
would be terminated if they couldn't find me a position. I checked the board 3
times a week and finally they terminated me. There were plenty of jobs I could
do and I always asked about those jobs, they always said someone would get
back to me but nobody ever did. I was a Clerk/typistII and there was also a
typing test they made me take that was taken a 11/2 years ago that I typed 40
words a minute and some of those job were not even requiring that much.. I was
at PCH for twenty years before they terminated me.
Joe I have no one there that can be hurt now. Just the story I told you before I
was out sick and in a months time they got rid of my job and then when I was
released from the dr. I check the board to see that there was a Clerk/typist job
that I could do but they waited out that month, they had to find me a job in a
months time, with many excuses I would call HR and they would give me a run
around story. I check every week I wanted my job I had one more year to go. So
now I'm paying 623.58 a month for Cobra that is breaking our backs . I hope
they get what they deserve.
comments = I also have been harassed at the hospital and still work there
comments = I worked for PCH ofr about 25 years, quit 6 years ago when I was
bullied by management. I have documentation of my issues which may be of
help to this case.
comments = as a current employee of palos-totally agree with everything he
says.totally true-i have been there 25 yrs.sorry for your hardship and hope you
win the battle-always has proven impossible for some reason.way to go
comments = I was sooo glad when I seen this. Someone has to do something
about the way they treat there employees.
comments = Please send information. Was also fired without cause, at PCH .
comments = I was let go from PCH in July of 2011. I attempted to contest the
dismissal, it was investigated and denied. This was the first time I became
aware of this lawsuit and would very much like to discuss any help I would be
able to lend the litigation.
comments = A have a few things that the hospital did to me that I decided to
leave after 14 1/2 years of service. I do not know if my allegations can be used
or if there is any legal basis but something needs to be done to that hospital.
There are so many good even excellent nurses who left because they cannot
take the changes that the hospital are making. They write up people
reprimanding them and nurses are so demoralized with all these write ups.
Thanks for considering me for this.
comments = I had issues matching the ongoing complaint.
comments = I worked there for 27 yrs and I was let go. I made one mistake and
I was terminated. I wasn't written up just terminated right away. Please update
me. I want PCH to go down just like what they did to my morale.
increasingly hostile work environment. I am an older worker(over 55) and felt
that I had a target on my back. I was subjected to verbal rages by my
long-term very professional ICU nurse was terminated, I felt I was next. I was
constantly looking over my shoulder, wondering when I would be taken to task
for some infraction which was totally manufactured. I am now in a much more
supportive work environment and can reflect on how much torture I endured.
Good Luck with your lawsuit.
comments = Wromgful disciplinary action/Wrongful termination
nurse position in order to alleviate the mental stress and anxiety she was
experiencing. Am curious about how this cases progresses. She retired a few
her. She used to keep boxes and boxes full of all the ridiculous decrees,
demands, and threats, in case she needed to defend herself against an ulawful
firing, but threw them out once she retired. You can post my comment
I don't know if she'd every agree to be part of this lawsuit (she still gets anxious
just thinking about the place), but I am thrilled that the hospital is finally being
held accountable for the horrible way it treated its older nurses and staff. Those
administrators are a bunch of bullies and sadists.
comments = I am a former employee who was let go after 2 yrs of sheer hell. My
boss and management bullied me and overworked me causing such stress that
I ended up with severe physical and emotions problems due to the stress. I am a
college graduate with a long time history of career sucess. I can't find words to
say how hostile it was working at Palos and watche them bully others to tears.
When I left, I said; This is supposed to be a place of healing, but you are making
people sick. It was so traumatic for me that I still have a difficult time talking
about it. I would rather die in the street than be treated there. The most
uncompasionate hospital I have even walked into and I am a catholic (a bunch of
comments = I applaud you for your courageous act. I hope this puts Palos
Hospital into great turmoil. I was also terminated as a new nurse, straight out
of school. I experienced a very hostile environment. They claimed I wasn't upto
the one with the problem even though I went to one of the top nursing schools
in Illinois. Once I started a new nursing job, I understood that it was not me but
was a big mistake. I was told to complete the paper work to go on disability. I
refused. Human Resources told me I had no choice in the matter.
Human Resources didn’t know what to do. They waited about two weeks and
still do my job.
I was told by Human Resources that they went to the highest level of
management. I had no choice. I asked if that was Sister Wright. I was told it
was Mr. Lavery.
I was then fired. I was told after almost ten years of employment I no longer
I was given no severance pay.
My medication was very expensive.
I was given no choice but to pay COBRA insurance.
I went to unemployment. The unemployment office granted me the
unemployment benefits. Unemployment told me they talked with Human
Resources. A long term employee with a disability should not have been fired in
that manner. I was told to go to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
When I went to the EEOC, I told Palos Community Hospital failed to cooperate
in any way.
The EEOC gave me a right to sue letter under the American with Disabilities
I showed that letter to a lawyer. The lawyer told me they could take my case to
federal court. If I lost it could cost me $100,000 to $150,000 if I lost. If I won
PCH would be responsible for my legal fees.
I didn’t hire the lawyer.
I went to Social Security to apply for disability benefits.
I was granted disability benefits.
