Palos Community Hospital present and former  employee comments.
PCH. I must be honest, when I first went to this website and wrote a couple of
sentences. For a brief moment all the anxiety came flooding back to me. Like I
had in my last year at PCH if I say that it was difficult that would be an
understatement. My last year was extremely stressful, I was physically ill and in
fear of losing my job everyday. It was after exhausting every possible way to
resolve being discriminated against. Even going to EEOC only to find out I would
surely lose my job once PCH found out. It was then I decided to seek employment
elsewhere. I have had time to process this and would like to move forward and
participate in this complaint.Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you in this
most serious matter.
comments = I have been treated in the same manner. My complaints are:
age discrimination, wrongful disiplinary action, defamation, infliction of emotional
discrimination, retaliation, creating an environment that is hostitle and
offensive,unlawful termination.
comments = I have worked at Palos Community Hospital for over 14 years. I
recently resigned due to a hostile work environment and what I believe was
discriminatory behavior. I'm also considering legal action. Feel free to contact
me. Thank you.
comments = i retired sooner than i wished to the hostile and degrading
treatment of nurses which ultimately affects nursing care. THE PATIENTS
outcome is the bottom line not $$$$.  every department affects patient care.
when is pch going to  wake up? I waited so long for someone to get the ----- to
do this. Maybe it will wake up nursing!
comments = I also have been harassed at the hospital and still work there
comments = I worked for PCH ofr about 25 years, quit 6 years ago when I was
bullied by management. I have documentation of my issues which may be of
help to this case.
comments = as a current employee of palos-totally agree with everything he
says.totally true-i have been there 25 yrs.sorry for your hardship and hope you
win the battle-always has proven impossible for some reason.way to go
comments = I was sooo glad when I seen this.  Someone has to do something
about the way they treat there employees.
comments = Please send information. Was also fired without cause, at PCH .
comments = I was let go from PCH in July of 2011. I attempted to contest the
dismissal, it was investigated and denied. This was the first time I became
aware of this lawsuit and would very much like to discuss any help I would be
able to lend the litigation.
comments = A have a few things that the hospital did to me that I decided to
leave after 14 1/2 years of service. I do not know if my allegations can be used
or if there is any legal basis but something needs to be done to that hospital.
There are so many good even excellent nurses who left because they cannot
take the changes that the hospital are making. They write up people
reprimanding them and nurses are so demoralized with all these write ups.
Thanks for considering me for this.
comments = I had issues matching the ongoing complaint.
comments = I worked there for 27 yrs and I was let go. I made one mistake and
I was terminated. I wasn't written up just terminated right away. Please update
me. I want PCH to go down just like what they did to my morale.
comments = Wromgful disciplinary action/Wrongful termination
comments = I am a former employee who was let go after 2 yrs of sheer hell. My
boss and management bullied me and overworked me causing such stress that
I ended up with severe physical and emotions problems due to the stress. I am a
college graduate with a long time history of career sucess. I can't find words to
say how hostile it was working at Palos and watche them bully others to tears.
When I left, I said; This is supposed to be a place of healing, but you are making
people sick. It was so traumatic for me that I still have a difficult time talking
about it. I would rather die in the street than be treated there. The most
uncompasionate hospital I have even walked into and I am a catholic (a bunch of
fonies)
comments = I applaud you for your courageous act. I hope this puts Palos
Hospital  into great turmoil. I was also terminated as a new nurse, straight out
of school. I experienced a very hostile environment. They claimed I wasn't upto
the one with the problem even though I went to one of the  top nursing schools
in Illinois. Once I started a new nursing job, I understood that it was not me but
them.
comments = Joe,
I remember a couple of years after I started a gentleman in S/R WAS FIRED
RECEIVING AND THEY SAW HIM ON THE CAMERA. K****** HAD IT OUT FOR
THE MAN (j*******) AND IT WAS GRABBED BY HIM AND GOT HIM FIRED. THIS

THIS HORRIBLE INCIDENT YOU ENDURED AND MAKE A CHANGE TO
PALOS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL.
comments = recently quit 2/20/12 after 12 years. constantly harassed even was
told i had to ask permission to go to the bathroom.  The list goes on and on.  i
have all the paperwork.
comments = I am definitely available for testifying to all accusations that I am
aware of  I watch your website frequently and am anxious to see justice be done.
ended in my wrongful termination on Sept 15th 2011. I was on an intermittent and
I was her sole support. I was denied my unemployment insurance after Miss
****** wrote a professionally slanderous letter to them and directly lied at my
unemployment hearing.

comments = I am a current employee at pch. I am not at this time going to use my
real name for obvious reasons as you well know. However I applaud your bravery
and tenacity. You give us all hope that things will change. thank you.
comments = I have suffered,age discrimination,retailiation,defamation and
attempts to physically harm me.
comments = I definitely want to be involved.  Previously sent my story.
comments = Over 20 years of employment , constantly harrased , fear for my job
one to turn to for help without fear of retaliation. No recent promotions except to a
younger employee.
comments = I was an employee of PCH for 7 years.  I am 60 years old.  I
requested and was granted a reduction in hours from 40 to 32 to care for my
dying father, with the explicit understanding that when I was able I would return to
not in the budget.  Because I need full-time work, I resigned and started another
job.  Within 2 weeks a much younger person was hired to replace me...working
40 hrs/week.  I seriously considered making a formal complaint, but because I still
against because of my age.  My yearly reviews did not reflect any problems with
my performance, and I was never disciplined.  I resigned in Nov., 2010.  Is this a
class action lawsuit?
comments = Please send information. Was also fired without cause, at PCH .
comments = I was employed at PCH for 18 years. I left in 2010 not because I wanted to
but, because I felt that I had before I was let go.
62.  Falsely accused.  I'd been harassed for over a year;  workload, scheduling
and abusive treatment.  I was denied unemployemnt benefits and filed Human
Rights.
comments = That day of my termination... Now I figured I was being played with
by both the HRD VP as well as her side kick H*****. At this point I realized things
what could go wrong for them?

I know all the staff at Palos as well as the medical staff would appreciate this
nonsense to stop!  Leadership can cause people to lie or deceive staff, so they
follow the wishes or directives of a Napoleon type leader.  Sadly, some Religious
organization feel they have the guidance from above to do whatever they feel is
righteous, even if people and families get hurt. I realized after all this before me,
what kind of organization Palos was and realized I did not want to return,
especially with the retaliation methods they sure were to use.

I believe this administrative leadership often believes it is irreproachable with a
God like power and whatever is decided is the law.  Firing of leading clinical and
well respected employees sends a message to “workers”. No one is safe.
Intimidation and threats are a common place from leadership and many feel
actions are supported by CEO who supports the middle management staff in this
type of reckless fashion. Is it to score on budget at time of opportunity, or just get
respected for that fashionable power, I’m not sure.
Hospital a better place to work by making a contribution towards the legal
costs and supporting the collective action against Palos Community Hospital.
